Display is turned on and off when suspending

Reported by: Zem Owned by: mickey
Priority: major Milestone: cornucopia-0.10
Component: packaging/distribution Version: milestone5
Keywords: Cc:

When kernel 2.6.28 is going into suspend and the Display is powered off, the Display is turned on, then the kernel prints some debugging output and turns of the Display again.

This behavior does not save power.

  • Milestone changed from milestone5.5 to milestone6

This will get fixed in the future by using autosuspend in the one hand, which needs no button press and using the illume power menu on the other which lets you choose if you like to sleep, reboot or shutdown.

Just tried this by issuing the suspend command over SSH and the Display stays dark.

alphaone@adrastea ~/dev/fso/framework/framework/subsystems/ogsmd $ ssh neo
Warning: Permanently added '' (RSA) to the list of known hosts.
root@'s password:
root@om-gta02:~# cli-framework
usageifa failed to connect to bluez
freesmartphone.org interactive command line
>>> usageiface.Suspend()

If this combined with the autosuspend feature is okay for you then please close this ticket as invalid. If not please comment

I think it's true only when using xscreensaver for blanking (as SHR does). In plain FSO, which uses SetBrightness? issued by oeventsd it doesn't happen.
